Carrera Cabriolet: The New Porsche 2012
Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet 2012 share of the aluminum-steel body with the latest 911 Carrera Coupe.
Carrera Cabriolet will delivered in March 2012 as the first deliveries. Coinciding with the start of deliveries of the new 911 Carrera Coupe, Porsche begins to accept requests from the convertible body variant of the new generation 911.
The new 911 Carrera Cabriolet differs from the previous model because it is a car 5 inches long and with a longer wheelbase (2.45 meters). The exterior design is very similar, while the interior does change considerably.
Like the previous model of this roadster has an electrically operated fabric roof that can be of various colors. The cheapest version costs 112 832 Euros, ie about 12 900 Euros is more expensive than the coupe version, with no differences in the engines or equipment.
Initially there are two versions available (Carrera and Carrera S). Both are pulling back, in 2012, there will be wheel-drive versions. They are distinguished mainly by the motor.
The six-cylinder engines are available and are atmospheric Boxer (not turbocharged). The Carrera has 3.4 liters displacement and 349 hp, while the Carrera S is a 3.8 liter 400 hp. Like the 911 Carrera Coupé, the gearbox can be manual or automatic, both seven-speed. This is the first time a production car series has a seven-speed manual gearbox.
With either engine, the 911 Carrera Cabriolet has approved an average consumption low for a sporty characteristics (between 8.2 and 9.7 liters per 100 kilometers). Two of the reasons why it has a low consumption is a long development in seventh place and an automatic Start / Stop the engine for the arrests.
The 911 Carrera Cabriolet safety package consists of seatbelt pretensioners and front, side, and head airbags. As is the case with the coupe and Boxster, the cabriolet has flat cushions fitted along the bottom rim of the side windows. In a side-impact accident, they inflate upward to offer some cushioning of the occupants’ heads even when the top is down. Rollover protection is provided by a combination of high-strength steel bars in the A-pillars and a beam behind the rear seats that automatically extends should the car start to roll.
