Peugeot, the leading brand in January 2012
The first month of 2012 ended with 54,961 registrations of passenger cars, which account for 2.5% more than the 53,634 in January 2011. The growth in January, even with a volume of registrations similar to 1995, has meant that major brands have grown market, after many months of significant declines drag.
In this sense, the second-placed Volkswagen with 4,683 units, was up 29.3% and Citroen, in third place with 4,129, so did by 20.6%. Among the ten most widely accepted brands highlights the soaring Audi, specializing in premium cars or high range, with 3,216 registrations has increased by 36.4%.
The leader of registrations in 2011, Seat, has not started well and in January, with 3,568 registrations, apart from 29.2% down, placed fifth in the rankings. It also draws attention to the tenth Renault undisputed market leader a few years ago, which closed in January of 2,882 units and an annual decline of 11.6%.
Among other premium firms, to highlight the rise of 17.4% BMW 11.7% Mercedes and Lexus 124%, but the Swedish Volvo is contracted by 17.6%. Another big growth, 118%, has been in Lancia, Fiat Group brand, which has taken in its range saloons of the American brand Chrysler and so is Land Rover and its progress of 111.7%.
As a result of the crisis positioned brands with cheaper models grow significantly, as the case of the Romanian Dacia, with 10.4%. The Korean Hyundai reaches a growth of 36.4%, but its group subsidiary, Kia, backs up to 21.7%. Significant declines have also occurred in brands such as Ford (29.2%), Mitsubishi (39%) and Mazda (23%).
